Alpaca Keeper Experience

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to go behind the scenes and work with the alpacas? Wonder no longer, with our alpaca keeper experience.

This experience teaches you all about alpacas and what you need to know to care for them. Including taking them for a walk, feeding them, turning out the herd into the field, filling up the hay racks and water, as well as the less desirable job of mucking out. During this process you get to experience the alpacas in their environment and you will see their individual characters and why they are a much loved animal.

The experience starts at 9am and lasts up to four hours, with light refreshments provided. On arrival you will be given a safety briefing and a chat about what to expect. We will also ask you what you would like to do as part of your experience, from a choice of activities.

Please note if this is booked for a child, then they will need to be accompanied by an adult.

  • 2 People = £125

Alpaca Increase Confidence & Self-Esteem Session

Interact, feed and walk an alpaca in a private session. Including activities to help boost self confidence.

Through stimulation and interaction, animals allow young children to practice and interact in an environment without judgment or stress which also has a host of other physiological and social benefits.

Animals are vulnerable creatures which need our care. We encourage children to feed them, walk them and to help the children understand how to care for another living creature. Caring for another being, in turn, promotes empathy as children begin to understand that every living thing has needs and how they can help towards meeting these needs in their interactions with others.

The soothing quality of petting an animal can help to relax children. Alpacas can be used as a tool to help autistic children experiencing a meltdown to calm themselves. This action can lower blood pressure levels and raise the heart rate.

  • Individual (1 adult or child over 6 years old, walking an alpaca) = £20.
  • Spectator (1 person over 8 years old, with someone walking an alpaca) = £10.

Alpacas After School
